/Chuson-ji Temple

Hiraizumi prospered over about 100 years in the late Heian period (the 11th century - the 12th century).Based on the Baddhist Pure Land
thought, Temple and garden were built during the period. It registered with the World Cultural Heritage in 2011. We introduce typical Chuson-ji Temple and Motsu-ji Temple.
Buddhism transmitted the garden and the temple in Hiraizumi to Japan via China and the Korean Peninsula. It united with traditional nature worship thought of Japan, and achieved characterful development. It was reflected in the technology of gardening, and the construction of temple, and was produced.
The temple and the garden group of Hiraizumi are having the Baddhist Pure Land in the mundanity expressed based on characterful design and architecture.
