/ Chuson-ji Temple
Hiraizumi prospered over about 100 years in the late Heian period (the 11th century - the 12th century).Based on the Baddhist Pure Land thought,
Temple and garden were built during the period. It registered with the World Cultural Heritage in 2011.
Ch?son-ji is situated on the top of a hill named Kanzan, and often called Kanzan Ch?son-ji. According to temple records, it was founded in 850 by Ennin (Jikaku Daishi), a monk associated with the great monastery Enryakuji and third head abbot of the Tendai sect.
