The main building of the National Museum of Western Arts. The National Museum of Western Arts of Tokyo-Ueno was registered into the World Cultural Heritage as "Le Corbusier's building work" in 2016.
It was designed by Le Corbusier, the French architect. He is a great master of modern architecture, and 1887 to 1965.
Spiral stairs and the "piloti" which constitutes the first floor portion only from a pillar, etc. are the characteristics.
Corbusier practiced original construction theory which eliminated the ornament and united functionality and rationality.
About 5,500 work which Matsukata Kojirou collected is collected by the National Museum of Western Arts.He was Businessman.
There are sculpture, print, craft, etc. of the paintings and Rodin of the impressionist school in the work.
